As part of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, the closing conference of the twinning project “Support for institutional reform and capacity building of the Higher Institute of the Judiciary” was held on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 at the Higher Institute of the Judiciary.
This 24-month institutional twinning (from November 2017 to November 2019), financed by the European Union to the amount of €1.2 million and managed with the support of the Treasury and External Finance Department – Support Unit for the Successful Advanced Status Programme under the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, is indeed nearing its end.
This ceremony, attended by the new Minister of Justice of the Kingdom of Morocco and representatives of the High Council of the Judiciary of the Presidency of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, was attended by the European Union Ambassador, ambassadors and representatives of the three countries of the consortium, France-Belgium-Spain, as well as the three project managers and the President of the operator Justice Coopération Internationale, Honorary General Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Mr. Jean-Claude Marin.
It was an opportunity to celebrate these two years of cooperation, to take stock of the main achievements and to recall that the end of the project does not mean the end of this cooperation. On the contrary, it is the beginning of a new era, during which the results obtained and the four main objectives of the project will be maintained and pursued, in line with the Charter for the reform of the judicial system (independence of the judiciary, improvement of access to law and justice, strengthening of the judicial protection of rights and freedoms, increase in the effectiveness and efficiency of justice).
