Ukraine – “Principles and practice of representation of interests of the state and a citizen in court by a prosecutor”

On June 12, 2014 an international scientific and practical seminar on “Principles and practice of representation of interests of the state and a citizen in court by a prosecutor” was held at the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine.

 

 

The event was jointly organized by the European Union and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine within the EU Project of international technical assistance “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine”.

The EU and the Council of Europe representatives, the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” representatives, the Prosecutor General’s Office in Ukraine representatives, deputies to regional prosecutors, heads of departments and divisions of the prosecutor’s office, who are in charge of representation of interests of a citizen and the state in courts, public persons, scientific workers of the leading institutions of higher education, specializing in law in Ukraine.

 

 

The seminar has been opened by the acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine – Oleh Makhnitsky. The Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski and the rector of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine Yevgen Blazhivskyy also addressed the audience.

Loic Guerin, the key expert of the EU Project “Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Ukraine” and Jeremy McBride, the Council of Europe expert, barrister in Moncton Chambers, spoke on the subject of representation of interests of the state and a citizen by a prosecutor in European states.

 

 

The scientific and pedagogical staff of the National Prosecution Academy of Ukraine and the guests took part in the discussion, namely: Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Civil Law Department at the Academy; Roman Kuybida, Reanimation Reforms Package expert, deputy head of the board of the Center for Political and Legal Reforms; Oleh Valendyuk, first deputy prosecutor of Zaporizhska oblast; Mykola Pashkovskiy, Head of the Department of International Law and International Relations at “Odessa Law Academy”; Tetyana Varfolomeyeva, Rector at the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine and Victor Boiarov, professor at the Department of Criminalistics and Criminal Procedure at the same Academy.
